Employee competence platform

The "KomPass 2.0" project included interviews with potential users, i.e. employees at the company who would attend or hold lectures in areas that the collegues want to further develop. We also conducted several usability tests of both the lo-fi/wireframe designs as well as on the final hi-fi design. I contributed to all parts of the project.
The problem
The client, a Swedish IT consultancy company had a big culture about improving their employees' knowledge and learn from eachother. They would often hold competence days where the employees, and sometimes external people would hold a lecture about a certain topic. The competence days were always filled with lectures and the competence day planners (that is, the admins of the competence day platform) had to determine which lecture proposals were good, and then organize the schedule for the competence day.
This was a time consuming task and the admins wanted a system to help with both administrating and planning the days, as well as a forum for the employees to send in requests for a subject or submit their own lecture idea.
The process
The project group started out with brainstorming and interviewing the future users. Both regular employees as well as the administrators for the system. This way, we all got a good grasp of what was needed and how they currently handle the competence days.
We made a flow chart of a possible system and ideas, and how they would be tied together.

Then we started making two different lo-fi design/wireframes in Adobe XD with many interactions to be able to convey the idea of the system, and test it out early. We conducted usability tests on two different prototype ideas, and the users tested both prototypes after each other and then gave their opinion on the two ideas. After the usability tests, the project group discussed the results and chose to proceed with one of the ideas.

Then we created hi-fi prototypes and tested them on users once again. Lastly, we consulted with a accessibility and UX expert to gain more insights about improvements.
Result

When the project was finished we presented it to the client and they were very happy with the result and started implementing the design into code. The client is currently using the platform for their competence days.
